Microneedling Pre- & Post-Care Guide
Before Your Appointment
Start preparing 3-7 days before treatment:
Discontinue the use of:
Retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin)
Acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)
Benzoyl peroxide and exfoliants
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. Use SPF 30+ daily.
Avoid facials, chemical peels, waxing or laser treatments.
Avoid NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) for at least 7 days unless medically necessary (These can delay the body’s natural healing process and impair results!)
On the day of treatment:
Stay well-hydrated and have a snack before the appointment!
Use minimal skincare products and arrive with clean skin if possible (if you have makeup on, no worries, we have face wash and makeup remover that you can use)
You may take acetaminophen (Tylenol) for comfort.
After Your Appointment
Redness and sensitivity are normal. Be gentle and prioritize cleanliness and hydration.
First 24 hours:
Treat your skin like an open wound! Avoid anything that could clog, irritate, or contaminate the skin. Plan to stay home for the first 24 hours if possible.
Do not wash your face or use any skincare products until the following day
Wash your pillowcases, towels, and makeup brushes before use to prevent bacteria exposure.
Avoid:
Makeup/skin care
Sweating or exercise
Sun exposure
Steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, or the gym
Retinoids, exfoliants, or acids
Re-hydrate with water and electrolytes.
Days 2–7:
Treat your skin like a healing sunburn. Be gentle, soothe it, and protect it from heat or sun.
Use only gentle, hydrating products such as a gentle cream cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum or a bland, fragrance-free moisturizer. Less is more!
Avoid any actives! (retinoids, acids, benzoyl, etc.)
Resume daily use of SPF 30+. Avoid sun exposure.
Continue moisturizing, as your skin may feel tight, dry, or slightly flaky. Do not pick, peel, or scrub your skin.
Avoid NSAIDS for 2 weeks after treatment, if possible, to ensure the best healing process.
